Information we collect
We collect the information you give us directly, such as your email address and password when you create an account, along with basic information about how you use the service, like sign-in activity and device or browser type.
Customer feedback surveys
When you answer a café's feedback survey, we store your star rating and any comment for that café. Leaving contact details is always optional: if you add an email address or phone number, it's only saved when you tick at least one consent box, it's shared only with that café, and we keep a record of exactly what you agreed to and when. To limit duplicate or fake responses, the survey sets a small cookie with a random device ID (not personal information) and we store scrambled, one-way codes (hashes) of that ID and of your network address. We never store your raw IP address, the network code changes every day, and both codes are deleted after 30 days.
How we use your information
We use your information to provide and improve the service, to communicate with you (like account, security, and billing emails), to keep the service secure, and to meet our legal obligations.
Sharing your information
We don't sell your personal information. We share it only with trusted service providers who help us run the service — for example, to process payments or deliver email — and only to the extent needed for them to do that work.
Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in and remember your preferences. Feedback surveys also set one cookie containing a random device ID, used only to stop the same device sending repeated responses. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though some parts of the service may not work correctly without them.
Data retention and security
We keep your information only as long as needed to provide the service or as required by law, and we use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect it. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, though.
Your choices
You can access or update most of your account information directly from your account settings, and you can request that we delete your account and its data at any time.
Children's privacy
This service isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll let you know before they take effect.
